Osnovni principi 3D modeliranja

3D modeliranje je del računalniške grafike in je tesno povezano z matematiko, predvsem z linearno algebro. Je proces ustvarjanja matematične predstavitve tridimenzionalnega objekta. Proces, ki računalniku omogoči, da tako predstavljene objekte prikaže na dvodimenzionalnem zaslonu, se imenuje 3D upodabljanje. Tudi 3D upodabljanje temelji na matematiki in delih fizike. V članku bodo predstavljeni osnovni principi 3D modeliranja.

V članku so najprej prikazane osnovne modelirne operacije, potem pa različni pristopi k 3D modeliranju in metode, ki se pri pristopih uporabljajo. Na koncu je predstavljena še pomembnost pravilnega modeliranja in lastnosti ustrezno zmodeliranega modela.

Basic principles of 3D modeling

3D modeling is a part of computer graphics and is closely related to mathematics, especially linear algebra. It is the process of developing a mathematical representation of a three- dimensional object. The process that enables the computer to visually represent those objects on two-dimensional screen, is called 3D rendering. 3D rendering relies heavily on mathematics and branches of physics, such as optics and mechanics. The basic principles of 3D modeling will be presented.

Firstly, some basic modeling operations are presented in the article, which are followed by different approaches to modeling as well as methods used with those approaches. At the end, the importance of proper modeling practices and the properties of a properly modeled model are shown.
