Fizika dvodimenzionalnih materialov

Dvodimenzionalni materiali so kristalne trdnine, ki so v dveh dimenzijah poljubno razsežne in v tretji omejene na atomski skali. V prvem delu članka je orisana njihova teoretična in eksperimentalna zgodovina. V nadaljevanju sta podrobneje predstavljena dva primerka; grafen in plastoviti prehodno kovinski dihalkogenidi. Obravnavana je njihova kristalna in elektronska struktura.

Physics of two-dimensional materials

Two-dimensional materials are crystalline solids which are arbitrailiy large in two dimensions and confined on atomic scale in the third one. In the first part of the article their theoretical and experimental history is outlined. In the following two examples are presented in more detail; graphene and layered transition metal dichalcogenides. Their crystal and electronic structure is discussed.
